looking back on high school

For my last blog post I'm going to compile some Parks and Recreation quotes to reflect on high school and to look into the future. I hope you enjoy :)

Freshman Year

“I don’t want to do things. I want to not do things.” — April Ludgate
I put this quote because it perfectly encapsulates my lack of passion during my freshman year at Millbrook. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life (I mean I still don't btw) and I didn't realize yet how important hard work was to ensuring success. I was settling into high school and I was interested in not doing things, much like April Ludgate, like homework and all things school related.

Sophomore Year

"I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself.” — Leslie Knope
Sophomore year I gained confidence in myself and my opinions, and this is when I developed as a feminist. I think this happened mostly because of a particular presidential election, unsurprisingly, but I think I could empathize with Leslie Knope in that I was often inspired by myself.

Junior Year

“Sometimes you gotta work a little so you can ball a lot.” — Tom Haverford

Junior year I realized that I had to work hard if I wanted good grades and a good foundation for applying for college. So I followed the mantra of Tom Haverford and worked a little (actually a LOT) so I can ball and go to college (I'm happy to say that my hard work has paid off).

Senior Year

(I had to put 2 for Senior year because it has been my most memorable year of all four at Millbrook.)
“If there were more food and fewer people, this would be a perfect party.” — Ron Swanson
I think this pretty much speaks for itself, but I think this year I have been thinking much like Ron Swanson in this quote. More food and fewer people has been the goal for this year, because I am very sick of being stressed out.
“TREAT YO SELF” — Donna Meagle
THIS quote is what I try to live by. Fast food? Treat yo self. New dress? Treat yo self. Two hour nap? Treat yo self. This year I have tried extra hard to not worry so much about things, especially regarding school. I have done this by following Donna Meagle's mantra of Treat. Yo. Self. whenever I am feeling stressed out or anxious.

Future

“We have to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, and work. Or waffles, friends, work. But work has to come third.” — Leslie Knope
For the future, all I can hope for is to follow the wise words of Leslie Knope and value friends and waffles over work. I truly hope that no matter what I'm doing with my life in the future that I stay happy and not place work above the things that matter in life.
