the seven deadly sins: gluttony
Author: IHOP
Date: June 25, 2017
Place of Publication: Twitter
In the little picture, this advertisement is trying to persuade people to eat IHOP's food by putting a picture of a pancake, a drink, and other food in the background that all look fresh and tasty--the pancakes are a golden brown color which indicates they are perfectly cooked, the eggs look perfectly cooked and neat, and the sausage and the bread is also of good color.
In the big picture, this advertisement is using a human's desire to over-consume food--gluttony--as their technique in tempting people to eat their food. Not only is there an abundance of food in the picture, which is way more than one person should eat at once, they also have a caption that is offering people an easy way to get that abundance of food. By saying "You want it? You got it.", they are making it seem like it is okay to over-consume food if you want to. Also, because the food in the background on the second plate is cut off and slightly blurred it gives the illusion that the food keeps going and there may be more of it, which goes off of the idea of the over-consumption of food.
The intended audience is Americans, more specifically the middle classes because middle class people are more likely to eat out and the caption used in the Tweet makes the food seem easy to get, which may mean cheap as well. The cultural knowledge that the audience may have is Christianity, because I know that IHOP is a popular brunch destination after people go to Church. The platform of media, Twitter, is also going to reach their audience of Americans, middle class ones especially, because a very wide range of people use it especially in the United States where access to social media is easy.

Some good thoughts here, but I definitely think you could have done more. Try to go through "the big 5" in your analysis and to include specific devices, techniques, or features. Additionally, think about the so what for any of the what/details you include.
